My LightWedge has only one level of light, not two as described in the instruction book. Is this a newer version of the product?
There should be a sticker on your packaging mentioning the improved, one-touch switch design. We found that our customers were only using the brighter setting so we improved the design for a more convenient one-touch switch with simply the brightest level of light. We thank you for your patience as we are in the process of updating our instruction books.
My LightWedge does not have the protective film on it that is described in the instruction book. Is this a newer version of the product?
The latest version of the LightWedge does not come with protective film. Our old packaging allowed the customer to take the product out of the package easily while browsing at the store, so the film was there for protection from fingerprints, etc. before purchase. Our updated package does not allow a purchaser to take the LightWedge out before buying, so the film was removed. We thank you for your patience as we are in the process of updating our instruction books.
The light from my LightWedge is not bright enough. Is there something I can do?
Check the battery orientation. All four batteries should be running the same direction in the LightWedge, according to the diagram in the instruction booklet and the diagrams on the inside of the unit. Unlike many products, the LightWedge will light if one of the four batteries is set in the wrong direction, but the light will be very dim. Four new AAA batteries oriented correctly will provide plenty of brightness for nighttime reading in a dark room.
How do I turn the light on the light in the LightWedge Mini?
Gently slide the round button in the direction of the lens and the 'E' in the LightWedge logo. The Mini button is not a push button.
What is the best way to protect my LightWedge product from scratches?
The optimal way to store your LightWedge is in the LightWedge Soft Case. The Soft Case is made from padded rubber and lined with a micro fiber polishing cloth. The LightWedge can also safely be stored in the book you are reading.
My LightWedge has a scratch on the lens. Is there anything I can do to fix it?
The LightWedge is made of the same optical grade acrylic as a pair of glasses. Light scratches are inevitable and should not affect the product's usability.
What is the best way to clean/care for my LightWedge?
Take care of your LightWedge as you would any other quality optical equipment, such as eyeglasses. We recommend that you remove any large particles first and then lightly buff the lens with a soft, micro-fiber cloth and lens cleaner, such as our LightWedge Lens Care Kit, when it appears dirty. Storing your LightWedge in a closed book, or a LightWedge Soft Case with a micro fiber lining, is also a great way to protect the lens from scratches and dust.
What type of batteries do the LightWedge products take?
The LightWedge Original, Paperback, and Night Vision each use four AAA batteries that will provide up to forty hours of light. The LightWedge Mini uses two CR2016 batteries that will provide up to twenty hours of light. They can be purchased at Bigger & Brighter.com and at many retail outlets worldwide.
Q: What is so special about an LED?
LEDs do not get hot. LEDs will not burn out they will last more than 10,000 hours! LEDs are extremely energy efficient for super-long battery life.
Q: What does LED stand for?
"LED" stands for Light Emitting Diode.
What size book does the LightWedge work with?
LightWedge Original is designed to be used with all common hardcover and "trade" paperbacks. However, it will also work for "mass market" paperbacks (the small, rack-size format), maps, and other reading materials. The LightWedge Paperback is designed specifically for these smaller mass-market paperbacks. It is perfect for travelers as it conveniently packs into small spaces.
How can I replace the battery cover panel on my LightWedge?
If the battery cover panel is broken contact us for a replacement part. Please let us know if your product says 'Made in China' or 'Made in USA' when requesting a new battery cover panel.
Is there a way for my LightWedge to also magnify the page I am reading?
Our customers have been clamoring for a LightWedge that will also magnify what they are reading. The LightWedge Magnifier is now available! The Magnifier conveniently clips on to your LightWedge reading light and is available for both sizes of LightWedge products. We have also introduced the LightWedge Mini, a pocket-sized LightWedge with a 1.5X magnification bar for use in restaurants and the theatre.
There is a concentric circle pattern in the light around the two LEDs in my LightWedge. Is this normal?
You will find a concentric circle pattern to a very small degree in every LightWedge. The pattern should not be distinct enough to be visually distracting.
What is your warranty policy?
LightWedge book lights use white LEDs which are guaranteed for the life of the product. Other parts on LightWedge products are guaranteed for one year from the date of purchase. If a customer has submitted the appropriate warranty registration to LightWedge, defective parts will be replaced or repaired. Please send the defective part or product to LightWedge, including your name, address and phone number and a note explaining why the product is defective.
LightWedge products purchased at one of our many worldwide retailers may or may not be returned depending on each store's policies. Returns of products purchased online or at a retailer need to be handled with that retailer directly.
